A Review of Outstanding Retinoblastoma Researches on RB1 Genes: Focus on Treatment by Non-ionizing and Ionizing Radiation
Introduction: Retinoblastoma (RB) is a malignant retinal tumor, which affects infants and children. This cancer happens through a mutation in the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor genes (RB1). Inactivation of RB1 has been observed in more than 97% of all retinoblastoma patients with mutations. In recent years, RB treatment has developed significantly. RBchr('39')s treatment methods can be one or ...
متن کاملA review of retinoblastoma disease
Retinoblastoma is a rare type of eye cancer that usually occurs in early childhood, usually before the age of five. This type of cancer occurs in the retina, the light-sensitive tissue behind the eye that recognizes light and color. It is the most common type of eye cancer in children. One-third of all retinoblastomas are inherited, meaning that mutations in the RB1 gene are present in all cell...
متن کاملCytotoxicity effect of gold nanoparticles against a rabbit model of retinoblastoma
Introduction: Retinoblastoma is a malignant tumor in children. The goal of retinoblastoma treatment is to maintain vision and minimize side effects. In this study, the toxicity of the gold nanoparticle safety in vitro was investigated on an eye tumor of retinoblastoma under in vivo conditions. Materials and Methods: For the evaluation of the toxicity of gold nanoparticles using MTT test after 4...
متن کاملQuantification of Mean Vessel Density in Retinoblastoma and Its Correlation with Local Tumor Invasion and Patients Survival
Background and Objectives: Retinoblastoma is the most common intraocular pediatric malignancy. Angiogenic factor expression such as VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) in retinoblastoma can be confirmatory angiogenic potential of this tumor. This study was performed to determine the role of angiogenesis in local invasion of retinoblastoma and its correlation with patients’ sur...
متن کاملOccupations of parents of children with retinoblastoma: a report from the Children's Cancer Study Group.
A matched case-control study was conducted by the Children's Cancer Study Group to investigate the role of parental occupation in the etiology of sporadic heritable and nonheritable retinoblastoma. Eligible cases were those patients with retinoblastoma diagnosed in 1982-1985 at any of the Children's Cancer Study Group member hospitals. Telephone interviews of 201 parents of cases and their pair...
